3. Installation and License Activation
Installing the Software#
- Download the installer from the link in your purchase email. Use the Basic installer for a Basic license and the Pro installer for a Pro license.
- Run the installer. Windows prompts for administrator permission, which is required to install the fonts.
- Follow the setup wizard. You will be asked to accept the license agreement and to choose an installation folder.
- Click Finish. CTM is now installed, with a shortcut in the Start menu and, if you selected that option, on your desktop.
If Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later is missing, the setup notifies you and offers a link to the download page. Install the framework first, then run the setup again.
Your data is not stored in the program folder.
→ See Your Data.
Activating Your License#
- Start CTM from the desktop shortcut or the Start menu.
- On the first launch, the license activation window opens. Enter the license key from your purchase email and click Activate.
- CTM verifies the key online and binds it to this computer. The computer must be connected to the internet for this initial activation.
- While CTM starts, a loading screen displays the edition, the release, and the current step, such as CHECKING LICENSE or OPENING DATABASE. Once activation succeeds and the loading screen disappears, CTM opens on the INIT page, with your name displayed under LICENSED FOR.
If CTM rejects your key, it displays the reason. Make sure you are using the installer that matches your license: a Basic license key cannot activate the Pro edition.
After the initial activation, CTM verifies your license online each time it starts.
Using the Software Offline#
Event venues often have poor or no internet access, and CTM is prepared for that:
- After a successful online check, CTM can be started without internet for up to 14 days.
- Every start with an internet connection resets the 14-day period.
- When 3 days or fewer remain, CTM displays a notice showing the remaining days.
- After 14 days without an online check, CTM asks you to connect to the internet. Connect and click RETRY, or click CANCEL to exit.
- If the date or time of the computer is set back, CTM refuses offline use.
Tip: Before you travel to an event, start CTM once with an internet connection.
Moving to a New Computer#
A license key is bound to one computer. To move CTM to a new computer:
- Contact support at contact@hummelgaming.com and request a reset of your activation.
- Install CTM on the new computer and activate it with your license key.
- Transfer your data to the new computer.
→ See Backups and Restore.
Using CTM on a Second Computer#
A CTM license is valid for one computer. To use CTM on a second computer as well, for example one for preparing your events and another at the craps table, request a second license from support:
- Contact support at contact@hummelgaming.com and ask for a second license for an additional computer. The second license is available at a reduced price.
- Once support has confirmed the extension, install CTM on the second computer and activate it with the same license key.
Each computer keeps its own settings and its own database.
Updating and Uninstalling#
Updating. To update CTM, run the new installer. It replaces the program files and preserves your settings, database, and license.
Upgrading from Basic to Pro. Run the Pro installer. It replaces the Basic edition and preserves all of your data. When you next start CTM, enter your Pro license key if prompted.
Uninstalling. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps in Windows, select CTM, and click Uninstall. This removes the program. Your data deliberately remains on the computer so that nothing is lost if you reinstall CTM later. The fonts also remain installed.
The following files and folders remain after uninstalling. The table shows their default locations:
| What remains | Default location |
|---|---|
| Database, backups, media, sound effects, wheel presentations, light show, and log files | Documents\Hummel Gaming Files |
| Settings and license | %AppData%\HummelGaming |
If you changed the locations of the database, backups, media, sound effects, or log files, your data is in the folders you selected. You can review them on Settings Page 2 – File Locations.
To remove all data as well, delete these folders manually. Do so only if you are certain that you no longer need the data.
